Background I will be at my 2 year mark of lifting in May this year. I started with Greyskull LP for 4 months, did a few months on PHUL with weekly progression, and then several months on PPL, also with weekly/monthly progression. I have been on 5/3/1 since October 2016. I can only include bench and OHP in this analysis, as I cannot run 5/3/1 on deadlifts or squats due to a permanently torn L4/L5 disc (Deadlift PR: 355 lbs, Squat PR 225 lbs). My motivation for running 5/3/1 was because in the months leading up to October, my lifts stalled hard. I had stalled on 3x5 long ago, and had been making decent progress on 1x5, but even that stalled. I shot to make 5 pound jumps each month near the end, and even that was difficult. I know this is super background, but it's important, as I didn't just gain the strength because I had a lot of potential, it was truly the beauty of the program that has made strength gains the past 6 months a breeze. My Version of 5/3/1 and Tweaks Combined with PPL (6 days a week).

There's an ongoing debate about the merits of simplicity vs. complexity. "People want things simple and easy to use! " proclaim some. "Balderdash – they want complex and powerful behavior! " exclaims the other side. And back and forth they argue, gnashing teeth and brandishing keyboards. I think the problem lies in the confusion of terminology, which the authors hint at but don't state explicitly. Pitting simplicity against complexity in a virtual cage match creates a false dichotomy, or the belief that you must choose one or the other. Both are possible. This isn't a cop-out, "can't we all just get along" answer. I think the real issue is that we are mixing terms. Simplicity and complexity really can be friends, and don't have to fight to the death (like Kirk and Spock they are best friends, and even if they do fight it's only a charade). When we argue about a thing being simple or complex, we are unknowingly asking two higher questions: How easy is it to understand? What can it do? These are the questions we ineffectively try to answer using the words "simple" and "complex".

Heavy alcohol consumption will increase folic acid requirements as well. Vitamin B12 is found in animal products. Thus, vegetarians who consume dairy and egg products are not at increased risk for B12 deficiency, while individuals who are strict vegans (and their breastfed infants) are most at risk for B12 deficiency. Aging also affects B12 status because less acid is produced in the stomach as we age. Acid helps to release the active form of vitamin B12 in the stomach. From the stomach, B12 travels down the intestines where it is absorbed into the body in the small intestines. Therefore, people who have malabsorption are also at risk for B12 deficiency.

But soda? We've got Coke, Diet Coke, and Sprite. It's not fair. I love soda. I would love to have some variety when I feel like enjoying a sugary carbonated beverage.
